Mandated by the Election Commission of India, the Mock Poll is conducted 90 minutes before polling begins – typically kicking off at 5:15 AM. Booth officers methodically connect the Ballot Units → VVPAT → Control Unit, power up the machines, and cast 50 test votes to ensure everything works flawlessly.
Once verified, all mock poll slips are sealed in a black envelope, the machines are cleared to zero, and only then does the real voting begin at 7:00 AM.
