Tamil Nadu Class 1 to 3 New Syllabus Books 2026–2027 Download PDFs The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has introduced a new syllabus for Classes 1 to 3 starting from the academic year 2026–2027. This revamped curriculum has been developed by SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) as part of the State Education Policy reforms.
The main objective behind introducing this new syllabus is to move away from rote learning and focus more on conceptual understanding, life skills, and holistic development. The updated textbooks include modern topics such as self-awareness, safety, first aid, and positive thinking, along with activity-based learning methods. Additionally, the syllabus gives importance to arts, sports, and value-based education, making learning more engaging and practical for young students.
The new textbooks published by the Tamilnadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation under the Department of School Education are available in both Tamil Medium and English Medium. The sale of new textbooks for Classes 1–10 for the 2026–27 academic year commenced from 10 April 2026.
